I found your blog just randomly and see that it has quite a bit to do with Jesus. Anyway this post got my attention. I just was curious as to how you have come to know who Jesus is, besides the obvious answer of Son of God but is there a deeper understanding? Can you get to the heart of it and figure out exactly who he is? I feel like the only answer is the superficial or obvious one.
Jennifer, sorry it has taken me so long to answer back to you! I want you to know that coming to know Jesus has been an unexpected, scary, amazing, freeing, loving, sacrificial journey. Knowing who Jesus is, is a lifetime process. One in which I am still discovering. The typical, Jesus the Son of God is the way to God and eternal life, answer is true. But Jennifer, it is so so so much more than that! Something I have noticed as I have grown and walked with the Lord, is that people think if you just pray a prayer or "believe" in Jesus then you will be saved. But they so have it wrong. It's about a personal relationship with Jesus, following him, putting your faith in him. The bible says that even the demons believe. It's so much more. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." A wage is something earned, and what we have earned for our sin (sin being anything below perfection, anything not worth of a holy God)is death. We have earned death. No matter how hard we try we will never be good enough. Sad news. BUT(!) the good news is Jesus was perfect. And we were given eternal life, and freedom from sin, as a GIFT, because of his death on the cross. Free of charge. No catches, no payment. The Lord both calls and invites us into this. He calls us because he wants the glory! He deserves the glory, for the grace and love he has given to us! But he also invites us, because when we follow him and strive to bring him glory we get ultimate joy!! Fulfillment that is not possible with anything or anyone else. Jesus is the only thing that satisfies. And I have experienced/am experiencing that satisfaction first hand! Follow that call, and take the invitation. It sweeter than you could possibly imagine. It's more than a pray, it's a relationship, that radically changes who you are forever, and where you'll be forever. I truly hope this helped. and PLEASE if you have any other questions...ask! I would love to answer them! :)
