These People

Continually and continually I think about the way God puts people into my life. How He places them into our lives right when we need them, right when they need us. What continues to amaze me though, is how it’s never like we imagine. God’s plan is so much greater than we could ever fathom. I have always been thankful for the people in my life and the way God used them in it.
One person in particular God has radically used to impact my life, is Millie. I met Millie my freshman year of high school and our friendship began to flourish. We began to do life together, and she began to pour into me. We shared our laughter, tears, joy, and so much more. But what no one saw is that she dealt with so much of my heartache, nonsense, bitterness, anger, and hurt over the course of my four years of high school; caused by my lack of full submission to the Lord.
“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses” Proverbs 27:6. Millie always had my best interest at heart, she desired for me to make decisions that glorified the Lord. Yes, sometimes I got unpleasant advice that I didn’t want to hear, but how much better is that in contrast to an enemy that whispers sweet words, and then sends me to ruin?! I am forever grateful!
When I met Millie, I met her as I was working the register at TCBY. I might have met her shortly before that, but this was the clear instance that I remember. None the less, it was still an everyday typical situation. This idea grabs my amazement. Your chances are slim to none, that you’re going to have some miraculous meeting or introduction to someone. God puts people into your path every single day, maybe for an instant to bear witness. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses” Acts 1:8a. Or maybe for a lifetime.
I look back now and I am amazed at the detailed sovereignty of God and how much his hand is at work in our lives! How the Lord can use someone as familiar to you as your parents, or as unfamiliar as the random person that sits next you in your Tuesday evening class, to meticulously and radically show you His power, grace, timing, love, and so much more. These people are beautiful and clear PROOF.

and I could never forget about beautiful baby Lola! <3
